Executive CV Writing Advice
Executive level CVs differ from other CVs in the sense that the whole document
should focus upon quantifiable achievements. A high impact executive CV should
not only be aimed at leveraging your unique selling points but should remain
audience-focused while communicating that you understand the employer’s
requirements and that you are uniquely qualified to meet those demands.
Your
CV should contain content which strategically supports your focus and value
proposition, and, since there isn’t much room
at the top, your CV should focus on who you are professionally and personally –
promoting yourself and your associated accomplishments in order to stand out
from often hundreds of other applicants.
As a
general rule for executive level CVs, demonstrating to a recruiter what you did
in each position is far more important than the scope of your responsibilities.
Concentrate on specifying what you did - your accomplishments and results
achieved – providing quantifiable evidence where possible, (for example,
“Increased sales”, does not sound anywhere near as impressive as “Solely
responsible for an increase in sales by £500,000 over 2 years.”
